Mission Statement

The Environmental Sensitivities Coalition of Canada is a community of dedicated volunteers with environmental sensitivities across a vast spectrum of disabilities, chronic illnesses, sensory differences and neurological conditions. We work together to create accessibility legislation, accommodation requests to present to government agencies and officials, and create templates for members and the public to use when making personal accommodation requests to their places of employment, residences, municipalities, public buildings and schools.

Our volunteer board members use this legislation to inform advisory committees on proper accessibility for education, transportation, public space built environments, product labelling and handling, healthcare, housing, poverty reduction, and workplace inclusion. Our mission is to ensure that all people living with environmental sensitivities be able to participate fully and equally in society as underwritten in the Accessible Canada Act, by providing clear and detailed guidelines for all who must adhere to these standards and maintain human rights in Canada.

Join the Coalition

Any person with an environmental sensitivity living in Canada, Canadians living abroad, and parents of children with environmental sensitivities are welcome to join us as a member for free! We will email you rarely, if ever, and you are always welcome to unsubscribe from emails should we begin contacting people. We want you to be counted, so we can show the need to include us in universal design principles to legislators. Signing up as a member helps us help you.

Erin Caton is a project manager and business owner with over 15 years experience leading teams and delivering products. She founded the Environmental Sensitivities Coalition of Canada to provide a collective voice in conversations about accessibility after realizing that people with Environmental Sensitivities are often left out of discussions. As a person and parent of a child with multiple chemical sensitivities, allergies, food intolerances, and sensory differences, she has first hand knowledge of the access barriers our community faces.
